Schema

The CSL schema, written in the RELAX NG Compact syntax, is the formalization of the Citation Style Language, and offers XML validation of CSL styles and locale files.

Schema Releases

CSL 1.0 – (2010-3-22) – Offers many new features as well as detailed documentation (release notes). First supported by Zotero 2.1, Mendeley 0.9.8, and Papers2. A first update to the accompanying CSL 1.0 specification was released on May 31, 2010.

CSL 0.8.1 – (2010-2-1) – Added some features already supported by Zotero 2.0 (release notes).

CSL 0.8 – (2009-3-21) – The first versioned release.

Locale files, which contain localized terms, date formats and grammar rules, can be found at:

Locale files in the CSL 1.0 format are kept in the “master” branch, whereas CSL 0.8.1 locale files are kept in the “b0.8″ branch. To contribute to locale translations, see the translation instructions.
